Why should you order samples? It’s more important than you think.
Choosing the right material for your home can be time consuming, research heavy, and overwhelming. Sometimes a material may seem like the perfect fit, but it just doesn’t work with your home. Maybe it doesn’t fit with the cabinets. Or, it just requires too much maintenance. It’s important that new countertops not only beautify your home, but fit with your lifestyle. Ultimately, you should enjoy your new renovation, not worry. That’s when samples come in handy!
Looks are important when it comes to your home renovation. If you decided on soapstone, you want to make sure it has just the right amount of veining, and just the right tone. Will the soapstone you chose appear green or black when treated? Will it have subtle veining or dramatic? All of these aspects are important. Soapstone can vary from slab to slab, so the more you know in advance, the better.
Testing Your Samples
Samples are more than just about looks, though. Samples are also useful in testing a stone’s durability. If you’re a chef, you might want to see how much heat the stone can handle, and you can test it by placing hot pans on top of it. If you have a family, you might want to see how the stone handles scratching and heavy use.
By choosing samples, you can test how durable the soapstone is, how it looks after soapstone wax and soapstone oil are applied, and how the color looks in your home.
Of course, if you’re at the beginning of your home renovation and still in the “deciding stages”, trying out multiple stones is always a great starting point. You may be surprised by a stone you’ve never seen or heard of before!
