This home in particular used Gris soapstone, which has minimal to moderate veining. This variety of soapstone complements the previously installed marble countertop island and red decor.

Once treated, Gris soapstone darkens in color. Veining details become a sleek contrast, especially next to lighter stone, cabinets, and tiling. Detail of Gris:

The homeowners also installed an outdoor grill, also made of untreated Gris soapstone. Because of soapstone’s thermal properties, the grill top will not be damaged in extreme cold or heat, and will provide a gathering space during warm weather.
