We all know that outdoor kitchens increase the value of your home while providing a modern, outdoor space. And it’s no surprise that soapstone is the best material for the project. Its thermal, impervious qualities are perfect for year-round enjoyment.
Our #1 reason to have an outdoor kitchen? Because spending time outside is not just for summer.
Outdoor kitchens provide the perfect place to host, converse and feel at home. Whether you’re carving pumpkins in the cooling fall weather, or escaping the winter flurries by a fireplace, outdoor kitchens are versatile, long-lasting, and stylish.
Homeowners ask us these same two questions all the time. How do you plan for an outdoor kitchen? What are the essentials? From hosting barbecues to roasting marshmallows, here’s what you’ll need to get the most from your outdoor space.
Fireplace. Grills. Countertops. Perimeters are especially perfect for maintaining an open space, or for providing a gathering place at a minibar.
Consider a roof or walls during those chilly months. This will keep the elements out and and the warmth in. On a budget? Try a DIY method using curtains and canopies.
Flexible seating. Choose versatile, movable seating. Bar stools at your countertops for lazy days, a cozy bench for couple’s night, or a round table for intimate conversations with a group of friends.
Fireplaces (Our Favorite). Fireplaces are so versatile. They provide the perfect form of ambient lighting, and give off heat when the temperatures dwindle. They’re great as a centerpiece for any outdoor kitchen.
Lighting. First, install lights over any cooking area (this is more of a safety concern than a design tip!). Dining areas might have adjustable lighting, or string lights to set the mood.
Grills and pizza ovens. Both can be versatile. The choice is yours. Consider what you like to cook, and if you have the essentials to make the most of either. (Plus, no grill or oven is complete without pizza stones!)
You don’t need to have a huge backyard to make the best of your space. You just need a great design and great company.
